The applicant must:

  • Meet the required language-level criteria of Canadian language benchmark for NOC 0, A, or B jobs
  • Take a language test accredited by citizenship and immigration Canada (CIC) – this shows that you satisfy the required criteria for speaking, reading, writing and listening.

Your English or French test results must not be older than two years on the day you apply for permanent residence. If it is more than two years, then you will have no other option than to retake the test.
