Age when IRCC receives your application

Ages 18–35 receive 12 points. Points decrease by one for each year from 36 to 46; ages 47 and older, or under 18, receive zero.

Education

For education completed outside Canada, use the Canadian equivalency in your immigration ECA. Check the official education-points table.

What supports the education level selected above?

For foreign education, the ECA must be less than five years old when you create your profile and apply. To claim two or more credentials, each foreign credential claimed needs an assessment.

Which professional degrees receive 23 points?

Only qualifying entry-to-practice professional degrees count in this category—not every professional designation. Use IRCC’s education table and the precise equivalency on your ECA rather than the title of your foreign qualification.

Language

Up to 28 points

Use one valid approved English or French test as your first official language. Enter its Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or French NCLC level for each ability—not the raw test score.

First-language minimum: level 7 in every ability. Both tests must remain valid when required; language results are valid for two years. Find approved tests and benchmark equivalencies. The second-language bonus is four points total, not four per ability.

Work experience

Up to 15 points

Qualifying skilled work experience in the last 10 years

Count qualifying paid work in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3. Use full-time-equivalent duration, counting no more than 30 hours per week.

Do you meet the continuous-work minimum in your primary occupation?

The minimum includes 1,560 hours of qualifying paid work in the same primary NOC, over at least one continuous year, within the last 10 years. Duties must match the NOC. Review the work-experience requirements.

Arranged employment

Up to 10 points

Do you have qualifying arranged employment in Canada?

Not every Canadian job offer qualifies. Review IRCC’s four arranged-employment situations and the valid job-offer requirements before selecting Yes.

What makes a job offer qualifying?

The offer must meet IRCC’s requirements, including paid, continuous, non-seasonal employment of at least 30 hours per week in TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3, for at least one year. A qualifying LMIA or specific exemption and work-permit conditions must also apply. An open work permit or a job offer alone is not enough.

Selecting qualifying arranged employment adds 10 employment points and automatically adds 5 adaptability points, subject to the adaptability cap.

Arranged-employment adaptability points: 0 / 5 (calculated from section 05).

Adaptability is capped at 10 points, even when several factors apply.

Check the study and relative conditions

Qualifying study requires at least 15 hours of classes per week and good academic standing. Each person’s qualifying Canadian studies can earn five points. Eligible relatives include parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, siblings, aunts/uncles and nieces/nephews as defined by IRCC; cousins and friends do not count. Spouse-related factors require an accompanying spouse or common-law partner.

The Federal Skilled Worker selection grid has a maximum of 100 points. The current threshold is 67, but the program’s minimum requirements must also be met. This tool does not submit an Express Entry profile or assess every requirement.

These points are different from the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which ranks candidates in the Express Entry pool. A 67-point result is not an invitation score, and it does not determine eligibility for every Express Entry program.

What about category-based Express Entry invitations?

Category-based selection is a separate part of Express Entry. This calculator does not award extra points for an occupation category or confirm category eligibility. Check IRCC’s current categories, occupation lists and round requirements rather than relying on an occupation title alone.

Is this an official government calculator?

No. This is an independent estimator from Tudor House Immigration Services. It is not operated by, affiliated with or endorsed by the Government of Canada.

What happens if I reach 67 points?

You have reached the selection-factor threshold in this estimate. You still need to meet the minimum requirements and other program conditions. An Express Entry invitation depends on a separate selection process.

Can I qualify through another program with fewer than 67 points?

This grid is specific to the Federal Skilled Worker Program. A result below 67 does not decide whether another federal or provincial immigration program may be available to you.

Why do I need my language test and ECA?

The score must reflect qualifying evidence. Use benchmark levels from valid approved language tests and, for foreign education, the Canadian equivalency on a valid immigration ECA. An expected result is not the same as a verified one.
