Become a Permanent Resident of Canada

Alberta is a great province with much to offer new Canadians. Home to two of Canada’s largest cities, Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta is a gem that boasts famous national parks like Banff and Jasper. The province is also well known for its industry, including fossil fuels, agriculture, forestry, hospitality, education, tourism and manufacturing. Whether you prefer to join a bustling city or live in a rural Alberta community, plenty of new immigrants are happy to make this province their new home.

To become a new permanent resident of this wonderful province in Western Canada, you’ll need to use the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (formerly known as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program, or AINP), which is run by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. Through this program, prospective immigrants that are needed by the province can receive an Alberta Provincial Nomination Certificate, as long as they have the right mix of skills and work experience.

Alberta offers a wealth of opportunities for newcomers looking to build a new life in North America. With the help of an immigration consultant from Tudor House, you can make your dream of a new life in Alberta into a reality!

Navigating the Alberta PNP Program

Lake Banff

If you want to achieve Canadian permanent residence through an Alberta Immigrant nominee program (AINP / AAIP), you have your choice of immigration options, which can fast-track application processing times in as little as 4 to 6 months through their new online portal.

Immigration Options for Workers

The Alberta Opportunity Stream is designed for skilled workers that are already working in an eligible Alberta occupation. Those who choose the Alberta General Express Entry Stream (in the Express Entry system) must have a Comprehensive Ranking System score of at least 300. They must also be working in an eligible occupation.

The Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway, also part of the Express Entry stream, is open to those currently working in the Alberta tech industry, or those that have received a job offer in one of 38 approved tech occupations. There is also the Rural Renewal Stream, which is designed for candidates that have received a job offer from an Alberta employer to work in a designated rural Alberta community.

Immigration Options for Entrepreneurs

The self-employed Farmer Stream is designed for those hoping to operate a farming business in the province. Similarly, the Rural Entrepreneur Stream is for those that want to start or buy a business in a rural Alberta community. Outside of the rural farmer streams are programs for entrepreneurs like the Graduate Entrepreneur Stream or the Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream, designed for international graduates of a designated Alberta post-secondary institution, or for foreign nationals that have graduated outside of Canada, but want to start a business in Alberta.

How Can I Get Started?

Those interested in one of the eight options listed above must complete their application online through the AAIP online portal. Once that has been completed, candidates must also pay a fee and submit specific documents. They will then be able to receive a provincial nomination from Alberta, after which they can submit a permanent residence application.

How Much Does It Cost to Apply?

Each stream has a different fee structure and application process. Call us for more information and advice on which streams will work best for you, and one of our Immigration Consultants in Calgary, AB will be happy to help.
