How CRS points work
Your Express Entry score brings together four groups of factors. Core points cover age, education, language ability and Canadian work experience. An accompanying spouse can contribute points through their own credentials.
Skill transferability rewards specific combinations of education, language and work experience. Additional points can come from an accepted Express Entry nomination, eligible Canadian study, French-language ability or a qualifying sibling in Canada.
A Canadian citizen or permanent resident spouse, or a spouse who will not accompany you, uses the without-spouse grid.
| Factor | With spouse | Without spouse |
|---|---|---|
| Core factors | 460 | 500 |
| Spouse factors | 40 | 0 |
| Skill transferability | 100 | 100 |
| Additional points | 600 | 600 |
| Total maximum | 1,200 | 1,200 |

Common questions
Express Entry CRS calculator FAQs
What is a CRS score?
The Comprehensive Ranking System ranks eligible Express Entry profiles using age, education, language results, work experience and other factors. The total is out of 1,200. This calculator estimates your points from the answers you enter; your official score is determined in your IRCC profile.
Is this the same as the 67-point eligibility test?
No. The Federal Skilled Worker 67-point selection grid is a separate eligibility assessment. CRS ranks candidates in the Express Entry pool. You may meet the Federal Skilled Worker threshold and still need a higher CRS score for an invitation. Use our 67 Points Calculator to explore that separate assessment.
What CRS score do I need for an invitation?
There is no single permanent cut-off. The score depends on the round, program or category, and IRCC’s tie-breaking rule. Meeting a previous cut-off does not guarantee a future invitation. Check IRCC’s official invitation rounds and confirm the requirements that apply to you.
Does a job offer or LMIA increase my CRS score?
Job offers no longer earn CRS points, following the change effective March 25, 2025. A job offer can still be relevant to eligibility for some immigration programs. This calculator therefore assigns zero CRS points to job offers.
How can I improve my Express Entry score?
Depending on your circumstances, stronger language results, French-language ability, additional eligible education, further qualifying work experience or an Express Entry provincial nomination may increase your points. Recalculate with realistic changes to compare scenarios, then review the documentation and eligibility requirements with a consultant.
How are spouses and common-law partners scored?
If your spouse or partner accompanies you and is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, different core-factor limits apply and their education, language and Canadian work can contribute up to 40 points. A non-accompanying spouse or a spouse who is already a Canadian citizen or permanent resident results in scoring under the without-spouse grid.
Can I use this instead of the government calculator?
This independent Tudor House tool is for planning. It uses the published CRS scoring rules and links to the sources below. It does not confirm program eligibility or guarantee an invitation. You can also compare your result with IRCC’s calculator; IRCC’s electronic system and governing instructions control the official result.
